Grove Trust Grants |
2017
We withheld our funding for 2017 due to the Grenfell tragedy. Millions of pounds were poured into the neighbourhood, the majority directed to the bereaved and people who lost their homes. Large sums were also given to many of our local charities. We took the decision to wait and see where these funds were dispersed before we made any commitments. We kept our focus broad and called it "Post Grenfell". The three charities that our members decided would help heal our community were awarded £40,000 each over 2 years. They were as follows: Dalgarno Trust - a community centre based in the Dalgarno Estate. Their main programmes, Healthworks and Community Champions, attract many local residents and their newly revived Youth Programme has a full weekly schedule. They were very pleased to be able to hire an administration assistant to help with the smooth running of the centre. They were also awarded £5,000.00 to be spent immediately on building maintenance. dalgarnotrust.org.uk Venture Community Association - a community centre with an adventure playground based in the Wornington Green Estate. Our funding will go towards their Play On Program which is geared towards children and young people's health and well being through a range of activities. We will also help fund a weekend project for children with special needs. venturecentre.org.uk West London Zone - with a successful track record in North Hammersmith, WLZ expanded to North Kensington in September 2017. Our grant will go towards supporting a link worker in North Kensington. They are currently in three local schools. WLZ identity children "at risk" of developing negative behaviour, partner them with a Link Worker and support them by creating a tailored package linking them to local charities and programmes. westlondonzone.org |
