Grove Trust Grants |
2015
For 2015 our members decided to allocate our funds to the following three charities which provide much needed wider learning opportunities for children. Westway Trust's Partnership for Supplementary Schools The supplementary schools offer extra tuition for pupils aged between 5-19 years who attend mainstream school. They meet in term-time after school and at weekends and are run by more than 25 community groups set up by parents throughout the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The Grove Trust decided to award £40,000 over two years to fund wider learning opportunities for children in North Kensington and Nottinghill including a 5 day residential trip for around 100 children and a science project. Venture Community Association The Venture Community Association's playground, the Notting Hill Adventure Playground, offers free supervised adventure play for local children aged 5-15. They complement the play provision with arts and crafts, a sports programme, cooking classes and regular trips. The Grove Trust decided to award £40,000 over two years to be used towards funding their 'Ready to Go' project. Kensington Dragons Football Club The club started in 2001 with children and parents having a regular kick around. The players all wanted to play regular 11-a-side team football and join a club. After some hard work from parents and players Kensington Dragons were formed. The club has expanded over the years and now has six youth sides playing in the Harrow Youth League and two Adult teams playing in the Middlesex County Football League. The Grove Trust decided to award The Kensington Dragons FC £40,000 over two years to fund a part time administrative assistant and a female football team. |
